I think this speaks for itself. Accepting a person doesn’t mean you get to put limits on their freedom. You can’t be an ally and want us to stop talking, or labeling, or demanding to be heard.

Acceptance has no exceptions. Period.

"ZOMG THIS SHOW IS SO GAYY!!!111!!!"
BBC Sherlock is not a gay show, it is literally the most heterosexist thing in existence.
Even the lesbians fall in love with men, for fucks sake.

I figured most of my Facebook friends would miss out on some of Martin Luther King, Jr’s quotes that are less palatable for complacent America. So I made some aggressive and hard-to-ignore photos to bomb their feed with for today.

So I signed up for a class about fantasy maps and their geography.

Today was the first seminar, we were talking about LotR, and the facilitator described Sam as “emotionally retarded”.

#I could write a whole rant about all the other things she said about Sam #and why they are ridiculously incorrect #BUT #this will do #ableism #also really bad understanding of fictional characters

I feel your pain man. And you sit there like HOLY SHIT there are like one million things I could and should say but it’s questionably whether anything I say would have any impact on your opinion and also you’ll be grading my work in this class.

And just because I have a similar issue: I went to the first session of my American Literature class and the teacher is like, yeah, there aren’t any black authors on our list, or native american authors. And only one woman. That’s because… no actually there’s no reason, it’s just my preference.

Like, is this a joke to you?

A few minutes later she goes on about the settlers and how they went west, because there was nothing there… except for animals. Oh, and some natives. Like that’s not important at all, WTF!?

(I’m sorry this isn’t entirely related to your post but I had to get it off my chest.)

Holy shit.

And this is related bc this is the kind of stuff we are expected to put up with in order to earn our good grades, and it’s also these people that are supposed to teach us about literature (and culture and society) and who are not only obviously unqualified but also perpetuating oppression and prejudices they should actually be educating us on.

I didn’t like XY as a whole, but I like the idea of drawing Xavier and Yvonne in cute clothes. I imagine them competing to be the world’s greatest fashionistas because who cares about the actual plot. Too bad the dude has like half the amount of styles the girl has ingame.
